St. Patrick's Day Fun

Hello everyone! I have been working hard on getting my St. Patrick's Day Unit and it is DONE!!! Please check it out in my TPT store.
Click here to visit my TPT store!
Since I am so excited, I made an extra freebie so you can enjoy. My little ones have had some trouble with missing numbers so this will give them plenty of practice!

I can't believe how fast March is approaching. We have a lot of exciting things coming up personally and at work. We have St. Patrick's Day, a Zoo field trip, Easter, etc. and then in the personal front, a great friend is getting married, my dad's birthday, and great things at church. Have a good night and I hope you enjoy your freebie!

Five for Friday!

I am so excited to be joining up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for my first linky party!

This was a really good week even though I am a bit tired but this has been my top five moments this week and they all happened yesterday!

1. We got to celebrate our Q and U Wedding to help our little ones remember that Q and U stick like glue to make the /kw/ sound! The kids were so excited and they even dressed up to come to the wedding! What better day to get married than on Valentine's Day!

 2. Love Cows! My students did such a wonderful job making their love cows and writing about them. I was really proud of them.

3. We got through our Valentine's Day party! We passed out over 500 valentines in 45 minutes! Yes, this was the first year (in my six years) where all of my 23 students made V-Day cards. This wasn't including the candy grams our Beta Club was selling! This was all thanks to my great para and my two room moms! They are the best! The kids did such a great job reading their classmates' names and putting them in their cute love bug boxes!

4. One of my room moms is starting her own bakery and she brought me and my para these special treats! Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE chocolate covered strawberries!

5. Even though I was tired, my sweet hubby insisted we go out and try this Mediterranean restaurant! Dinner was delicious but even better was the Nutella and Chocolate crepe! It was so yummy and a perfect way to end Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day and More

Oh goodness, so happy to have survived Valentine's Day and our Q and U wedding! I honestly wish it could have been Friday! However, we have one more day to survive. We have had a busy week working on the -ing word family, measuring, and Valentine's Day activities.

We have been measuring and are having fun doing so. I have a great team and we have had some great lesson plans to start our unit. Here are some pictures of students completing A Stampede of Measurement from http://cuddlebugsteaching.blogspot.com/ and we measured one student from each math group and will be measuring them throughout the week. In lieu of our measuring and finding gangnam style clipart from http://www.pinkcatstudio.com/ I created a measuring unit! Go to my TPT store to buy if you would like to join in the measuring fun!

I will be posting more pictures soon to share our Valentine's Day fun!

Super Bowl, Ribbons, and Valentine's Day

What a game this has been so far but I have decided to be productive (why?)! First of all, over 100 ribbons had to be cut and put together for Tuesday's Dress Down Day. Unfortunately, one of my co-workers found out she had cancer and to show our support, we are wearing zebra-print (her favorite) ribbons.

Doesn't seem as if there are 100 ribbons! Believe me there is! Then I decided to work on a Valentine's Sentence Scramble. I found these cute heart boxes at the Dollar Tree so I am going to number the hearts and have my students put the words into a complete sentence and then write the sentences on a recording sheet. Yes, this is a freebie so enjoy! Have a great night! I am going to try to enjoy the rest of the Super Bowl!

Field Trip and Happy Feet!

Yesterday was a tough great day! We had a field trip to watch the play The Frog Prince and then we came back to school to calmly eat lunch and then watch Happy Feet to culminate our Penguin unit. The kids loved it! We had so much fun learning about penguins. I am posting some pictures of their writing and an addition activity that we got from Erica Bohrer's First Grade blog: Penguin Addition activity. Have a great weekend! I have a lot of errands to run so I hope I can have a productive day!
