12 a.m. and Instagram

Let's just say it is 4 a.m. and I am blogging! I have been up since 12 a.m. and can't sleep :-( Monday will be no fun for me! Way to start the week! Instead of trying to sleep, I have been pinning, working on some things, and looking at blogs. Let's just say that I am now officially part of Instagram and can't wait to start taking pics as part of Apples and ABC's  and What The Teacher Wants Linky Party. The great thing is that   we will get to share ideas, chat, etc. with other teachers! I am so excited! I love sharing ideas!!!

Here is an explanation of how it will work from Michelle @ Apples and ABC's
Each Tuesday teachers are invited to Instagram a picture with the hashtag:
#teachertalktuesday
The idea is, on Tuesdays, if we all all use this hashtag, we will be able to search teachers near and far, and create a community that can support and grow together.  For your picture each Tuesday, choose anything that you want to share with other teachers.  They will be able to see your picture when you click on the phrase: #teachertalktuesday
Here is a little Instagram 101:
1. It is like Facebook, but with only pictures
2. You can make your profile private if you want
3. You can make write a caption under your picture and comment or like photos
Here is my home page:

Let's Get Acquainted....My Favorite 3 Places!

Hey y'all!

I hope everyone had a great Monday! I am linking up with Flying into First Grade for a linky party. Every teacher knows that our classroom is like a second home so this week we are sharing our favorite 3 places. Don't forget to link up and leave a comment!

1. Word Wall!!
I just added my word wall this year. I have a cowboy theme so my little sign says Yeehaw! I know all of my sight words! My para made little cowboy hats and neckties for my students' pics as soon as they know all of their sight words. She also was the one that made the cowboy decorations! Just being a bit biased but I love it!

2. Teacher Corner!
This is where I usually teach and I have all of my reading goodies that I use in this corner along with everything I need for stations along with some extra things for  those times that we might have some extra time.

3. Books!
I love books!!!! I have all of my books divided into the months I use them along with math books, sight word readers, and other subjects. We don't have AR so I don't have to worry about reading levels.  (Please ignore the backpacks and cubbies!)

Aaarrggghhh...Five for Friday

Hello everyone!

Can I say how happy I am that it is FRIDAY!!!!!! It has been the longest week ever coming back from Spring Break! It is also our CRCT week and we haven't had our paras so our schedule has been a little off. Why not add to the craziness by having Pirate Week to learn about "ar"! What a perfect time to share while linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching: Five for Friday for the week! All of my sharing this time is school-related!

fiveforfriday

1. For one of our math groups we have been working on exemplars so my little ones got to work in a small group first and then worked on a similar math problem on their own. This is one of my groups hard at work!

2. This week we got to celebrate Pirate Week. My para went to the beach during Spring Break and brought back this miniature pirate that expands when in water. Let's just say that my kids checked on our pirate every day to see if he grew or not (he actually did).

3. This has been the best book about pirates: Do Pirates Take Baths?! My kiddos loved it. They had questions about  pirates that were answered in a poem format but it was written in simple language for my kindergarteners to understand. I bought the book in 2nd & Charles and it was the best money I have spent!

4. Pirate Writing! These came out so cute. My kids did an awesome job. Here is a close up of one. I wish I can remember who I purchased this template from so I can give them credit.

5. Pirate Decor: I got to sport this shirt we made last year with my sister-in-law's pirate hat and eye patch (she was really into Pirates of the Caribbean) and someone let me borrow this tree with the parrot! The kids really liked the parrot.

Overall, it has been a tiring but fun week! My kids had so much fun dressing up and learning about "ar". Don't forget to link up at Doodle Bugs Teaching and have a great weekend!

I posted not too long ago about these great $1 finds from the Dollar Tree. Alligator clips to work on greater than/lesser than skills. Plastic plates to use as white boards. Also, giant fly swatters to play some relay races to reviews concepts such as addition, subtraction, and sight words. I just found some great stuff this past weekend. Linky Party!!!

First of all,  my heart and prayers go out to those families in Boston. It is just so sad the things that we are living through. It is scary to me that there are so many people out there that want to harm other people. All we can do is pray and hope for the best.

On a lighter note, I am linking up with Latoya Reed from Flying into First Grade for her Let's Get Acquainted Linky Party.

TOPIC - Skittles Game

Here is the code:
Red- Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: I am torn between chocolate chip and mint chocolate chip. They don't have chocolate chip often at ice cream places here where I live.

Orange- Favorite Memory from College: Definitely when I graduated with my degree. I think it was just the best feeling.

Yellow- Favorite Sports Team: I am not a big sports fan but I do love to go to a Braves game.

Green- Favorite Fast Food Place: I love me some Chick-fil-a! Especially when it was the only thing that was nearby when I was working on my Specialist Degree.

Purple- Wild Card(Tell anything about yourself): I am a huge fan of the Fast and the Furious movies. I can't get enough. I am so EXCITED about the Fast and Furious 6!

Great $1 Finds

Hey! It is Sunday and Spring Break is officially over. I am watching Cake Boss and doing laundry as I write. However, we now only have 27 days before summer break. I'm not counting or anything.:-) This week should be interesting since our 3rd-5th graders have to take CRCT and our schedule will be completely different. What to do to make the week even crazier??????   Pirate Day!!! (I will post pictures later this week!)We will be learning about r-control vowels and made a new unit to practice our words. Check it out on my TPT store.

I got to enjoy a week off, where I worked on some new units, read, and caught up on some of my shows. I didn't go anywhere but I still enjoyed my staycation! What to do during Spring Break???? Of course, go to the Dollar Store. I found these alligators to work on greater and lesser than like Kimberly Santana from The Learning Tree suggested (by the way great blog-check it out!)

Also, I found these plates (4 for a $1) that will be my new white color boards! They are super easy to clean and don't leave all that residue from the EXPO markers.

By far my favorite find, these jumbo fly swatters! They are half my size and the best part.......$1!!!! So I bought some shower curtains and we will be practicing our addition, subtraction, and sight words using these fly swatters for some fun relay race games!!!

Well, I am going to go enjoy the rest of my Sunday. I hope everyone does the same! Don't forget to leave a comment!

Earth Day Freebie

Even though it is Wednesday, I am starting to get sad because we are getting close to the end of Spring Break! I know I have four more days but I can't help but feel a bit sad. However, we then only have 27 days left until Summer Break! I'm not counting or anything! :-)

I don't have anything school related to post but with Earth Day fast approaching....I decided to work on an Earth Day freebie! Just click below or go to my TPT store and download! I hope you enjoy! Have a good night!

LInky Party

I thought I was heading downstairs to bed but I saw this linky party and I couldn't resist!

Topic: Stranded on an Island-What three things would you have to have with you?

1. My Family! I would need to make sure that I have my hubby and parents. I also can't forget my in-laws. I think it would be interesting to be stuck on an island together!

2. My iPhone! I know this is sad but I can't stand being away from my phone. In other words...I am addicted! Plus, I would be able to pin and Facebook if I had it. LOL! Just kidding!

3. My Michael Kors bag! I love purses and it is by far my favorite. It was a Christmas gift. Would it count as cheating if I included some things such as my chapstick, toothbrush, etc.???

I am awful at this! LOL! Don't forget to link up!

Finally...Spring Break

I am so excited to say that I am on Spring Break! This weekend has been so nice. I already finished The Chance by Karen Kingsbury. It was so gooood...I love her books!

Plus, the hubs took me shopping which was nice and we watched Olympus Has Fallen which was really good and worth the $10 for each ticket. I hate when you pay so much money for a movie and it is not worth it. We all work so hard for our money (singing She Works Hard for the Money-Donna Summer tune in my head....lol)! Don't know where that came from!

Soo...this week I plan on doing a couple of things such as cleaning up, working on some units, finding an R for the first wreath I have ever made (see below), and just relaxing! I hope everyone enjoys their week. I am leaving you with a freebie for -or words. Have a good night!

Finally...April!!!

I say this every time but I can't believe how fast time goes by. I am so happy that Spring Break begins next Monday! I am so ready for a break and so are my kids. Since I haven't posted in a while, I included a Spring Graph freebie. Students will draw a picture using the graph. All of my cute graphics were from My Cute Graphics! I hope you enjoy!

I also finished My Making Words Folder! Of course I saw it on Pinterest and finally got to it. I think I got it from this blog spot: Teacher Bits and Bobs. This is the link: http://teacherbitsandbobs.blogspot.com/2011/03/making-words.html and this is what they look like!

Also, hit the Target $1 bin and got these cute spring reading helpers (magnifying glasses). Can't wait to use them! Happy Monday!
